Lake Katwe Project

Lake Katwe Secondary School

At the Great Lakes Foundation, our unwavering commitment to education drives us to create meaningful change in the communities we serve. In collaboration with Global Himalayan Expedition from India and Light Initiative from Denmark, we recently established a state-of-the-art solar-powered digital computer lab at Lake Katwe Secondary School in Kasese.

This initiative is a significant milestone in our mission to promote sustainable development and to educate and empower the youth in the communities through tourism. By integrating solar energy solutions, the computer lab ensures a reliable and eco-friendly power source, enabling uninterrupted learning experiences for students. Access to modern technology and digital resources is essential in today’s educational landscape, and this facility bridges the gap for students in remote areas, providing them with tools to enhance their learning and broaden their horizons.

Beyond providing technological resources, this project emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship. By utilizing solar power, we are not only reducing the carbon footprint of the school but also instilling a sense of responsibility in students towards renewable energy and sustainability. This hands-on experience with green technology serves as a practical lesson in environmental conservation, aligning with our broader goals of promoting sustainable practices within communities.
